  Khari Cabral & JIVA are back with the first new album release under the ‘JIVA’ name in 13 years.
  
  '5' is a timely reminder of the skill, musical prowess and sheer creative power of Khari & JIVA and heralds a welcome return for this deeply respected band. As a label, we are tremendously proud to be playing a part in its release.
  
  With its origins in the Acid Jazz movement of the 90’s, to fans of this music genre, ‘JIVA’ is synonymous with the soul-boss nova funk sound that is deliciously smooth, vibrant and lush, emotional and thoughtful in composition.
  
  A founder member of the Atlanta soul group ‘Sirius B Project and JIVA, as well as being an established solo artist in his own right, Khari Cabral Simmons has multiple album and single releases to his name and he is the driving force behind JIVA and this latest release.
  
  Comprising of a combination of original compositions and well-loved covers that are given that JIVA twist, ‘5’ doesn’t disappoint. From the opening track ‘Good Thing’ – a groover that sets the scene for the rest of the album, to ‘Sweet Power’ a smooth, intoxicating cover of the James Mason original, to the swooning ‘Heaven’s Design’ (the vocals on which are faultlessly delivered by Lindsey Webster), to the driving, up-tempo instrumental ‘Capricorn City’ (with Simon Grey guesting on keys – in addition to being one of the co-writers on this track), this powerful body of work is a ‘must-have’ for any serious music collection.
  
  Throw in some stellar vocal performances from some well known names and you have an album that will delight existing and new fans alike and an album that crucially, continues the JIVA legacy.
